50,000 Jobs Lost To Save Car Giants
Posted on February 18th, 2009 1 commentGeneral Motors and Chrysler have announced that despite already receiving a $17.4 Billion Bailout from the US Government, 50000 jobs will be lost and a further $21.6 Billion bailout is needed to save them from collapse.
47000 jobs cut at General Motors

General Motors rescue plan consists of 47,000 job cuts, closing 5 production plants, additional cash aid of $16.6 Billion and axing 12 car models.
Chrysler’s plan will see a further 3,000 jobs lost, 3 car models axed and an additional Cash aid of $5 Billion.
Nearly $40 Billion in Tax Payers money gone to bail out the 2 car giants
But what have they actually done for us? The loss of jobs on this scale is obviously a tragedy, but are they worth the money? If we let GM collapse what would we loose other than thousands of gas guzzling ridiculously over-sized cars the size of vans that are doing far more harm than good to the world. Obama is supposed to be backing a green sustainable future, but is still happy to throw $40 Billion to a company that generates useless, over the top crap, and that have failed to step up to the threat of climate change. Start trying to save the planet, and maybe you deserved to be saved.
