India to Triple Emissions by 2030
Posted on September 3rd, 2009 1 commentA report has projected that India’s greenhouse gas emissions will more than treble over the next twenty years. India are already one of the top 5 highest polluting nations on earth.

The report, compiled by experts from the Indian government states that India’s per-capita emissions will be much lower than that of developed countries. The report will be the founding argument for India’s negotiating at the UN climate change conference in December.
India and China are the biggest threats to reaching decisive action on climate change at the conference, widely regarded as the most important meeting on the subject in history. Both India and China have refused to commit to emissions cuts until developed nations pledge to meet stricter targets.
Many believe it is down to the developed world to help invest in the future economies of both India and China by funding greener power plants, as any reductions in emissions by the western world could soon be eclipsed by the developing nations.
At present India accounts for about 5% of global carbon emissions. China, the US and Russia are placed higher.

The developed world must assist the developing world in creating greener energy otherwise we will never combat climate change
