“Britain will become one big city in order to cope with climate change refugees”

londonflood1es2707_450x373British Right Wing Newspaper the Telegraph has backed a theory that Britain will become “one big high rise city by the end of the century”, as migrants leave their country’s for being too hot. James Lovelock, who developed the “Gaia” theory, predicts a 4 degree global temperature increase, making many areas in the south of the world too dry to support human life, thus creating “climate change refugees”.

“Because we will be one of the life boat nations we should be preparing for a flood of people who will be refugees from climate change even from Europe, the nation is already a large city and it will become even larger, with that will come the need to support people. We do not want starving refugees – that will be worse – so we have to spend a lot of money on infrastructure.”

“These precious lands with access to water would be valuable food-growing areas, as well as the last oases for many species, so people would need to be housed in compact, high-rise cities,” said the article.

Since 2007, I put up miniature climate refugee camps in the centre of European cities to make people aware of the plight of millions of climate refugees already suffering from climate impacts. My last public art intervention in Berlin on Jan. 26 2009 presented more than 400 tents in front of the Brandenburg Gate. Please view hermann-josef-hack.de “Aktuelles” – there is also an English version.

I hope to find contacts to bring my climate refugee camp to London this year. Maybe you can help me.
