Work Begins On Comercial Spaceport
Posted on June 22nd, 2009 1 commentConstruction has begun on the world first commercial spaceport in New Mexico.
It will cost $200 Million and will take 18-20 months to build, but when its completed it will provide a new chapter for space exploration. Virgin are set to base their space tourism business here, as well as other firms aiming to achieve sending tourists on a trip to space.“The future is here and we are not too far off a new age of space. It is not just about private astronauts going up, it is about bringing the cost structure down and about new medicines, solar power in space and the entire range of scientific benefits that can come from it.” The words of Steve Landeene, the executive director of the New Mexico Spaceport Authority.
The design will blend in with the surroundings, and hosts a 3000 meter runway for the rocket based craft.
